#1 One of the core principles of any piece of science is that its results are repeatable and independently verifiable. If I come up with a process to say, isolate gold from an alloy, then I publish my methods and other people perform the same steps, end up with the same results, and verify my process works. If I come up with a process to say some coins are tainted, and other people do the same thing and end up with completely different results, then my process is bullshit.
#2 Bitcoin, by design, *is* fungible. As soon as a transaction has more than one output, it is *impossible* to say which bitcoin ended up where. It cannot be done. Everyone who claims to be able to do it is guessing, lying, or both.
#3 The road to hell is paved with good intentions. There are so many projects in this space which started out with good ideas and fantastical claims, and have ended up scamming or selling out everything they supposedly stood for.
#4 Bitcoin wasn't designed so you can just comply with the same old fiat rules and regulations you've been complying with your entire life. The whole point of bitcoin is to remove the ability of faceless third parties to control you.
#5 Let's say we have a trillion planet Earths. On each Earth, there are a trillion people. Each person has a trillion computers. Each computer generates a trillion keys a second. All these computers have been creating a trillion keys per second since the birth of the universe 13.7 billion years ago. 10^12 * 10^12 * 10^12 * 10^12 * 60 * 60 * 24 * 365 * 13.7 * 10^9 = 4.3*10^65. This means thay they would have so far generated approximately 0.0000000004% of all private keys.
#6 Mass surveillance isn't about catching criminals; it's about controlling the population. People who know they are being watched are meek and unassuming, dutiful and obedient.
#7 Bitcoin cannot survive long term without high fees. If we can't tolerate these fees, then we need to innovate to increase capacity, not censor transactions we don't like.
